The black-and-gold Pontiac Firebird Trans Am became one of cinema's most recognisable cars after Burt Reynolds drove it as Bo "Bandit" Darville in the 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit, complete with T-tops, gold snowflake wheels and the enormous gold firebird decal spread across the hood. This 1/18 die-cast comes from Ertl's American Muscle line, item 33121, built in metal with the opening hood, doors and trunk that were standard for the range. American Muscle releases of this subject have long been out of production, and the screen-car association keeps them in demand among both film and muscle-car collectors.
